Even though SharePoint 2007 provided a centralized environment for seamless collaboration and flexibility to build business solutions - some of the business needs like a centralized metadata and taxonomy management, integrated Business Intelligence with score carding capabilities, enhanced document management features, and more control over the overall SharePoint environment from an administrative standpoint still remained, and needed to be custom implemented. Moreover, for organizations who needed to transform their organization to be informal, social and community based, there were several challenges to be faced including platform support and adminitration.
